To infinity and beyond, Mr President

In his second trip to the NTU campus as Singapore’s premier, Singapore’s President, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam (second from right), looked to the stars as he was briefed on NTU’s 14th satellite, its most advanced to date.

The satellite, which more than 20 NTU students had a hand in building, is the size of a small fridge and is designed to operate at a much lower altitude than other satellites of its size. Apart from taking high-resolution photos of the earth when it’s launched, the satellite will also be a testbed for other satellite technologies.
